Good Morning Arthur School Family!
We hope everyone has been doing well this week. With Spring Break beginning Friday, here's what you need to know before classes resume on the 19th:
BACKPACKS - This is a reminder that every student should have a clear, see-through, or mesh backpack when they arrive at school. Though this policy is not new, we have noticed some students have switched their backpack of choice. Beginning Tuesday, April 19th, we will be reinforcing this rule. Students who arrive with a school bag out of compliance with our policy will need to check their back in the office and carry their items in hand from class to class.
This is a safety measure that many schools have taken in recent years to prevent the introduction of illicit items into school buildings. Please help us to ensure our school is a safe place for all to learn and grow. If you need assistance with procuring a see-through/clear/mesh backpack please let us know!
LEAP TESTING - We are only 6 school days away from the LEAP Test. Our faculty of educators have been working diligently to prepare your sons for this very important assessment. Please check in with your young man to confirm that he feels ready for what's to come. Next week will be students' last chance to prepare and get questions answered before they begin testing on the 26th. (As an attendance note, please ensure that your young man is on time everyday, but especially during LEAP week! Every minute counts when it comes to state testing.)
2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR - We are so excited to welcome the next two Arthur School classes for the '22-'23 school year. As you may know, we will be enrolling 8th, 9th, and 10th Grade students for next year. What you may not know is that the second round of NOLA Public School's Common Application is now open! If you have friends, family members, co-workers, church members, or anyone who has a young man matriculating into 8th, 9th, or 10th grade, please encourage them to consider enrolling their son with us! The second round ends May 13th.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES - For our Educators, I must reiterate the message that our students need to be bringing their school supplies with them daily. Especially with standardized tests around the corner, having items like pencils, erasers, paper, and pens, will be very important. Please check in with your young man to make sure he has everything he needs in order to be successful.
COVID-19 - Of the 12 faculty members, 1 parent, and 22 students tested, 0 positive tests were returned for COVID-19.
That is all we have for you at this time.
Best Regards (and Happy Spring Break!)
