The Delores Taylor Arthur School is so pleased to now be enrolling 8th Grade (in addition to 9th and 10th) for the 2022-23 School year!
Research has shown that 9th grade is probably
the most important year for a high school student.
More students repeat 9th grade than any other
grade. Unfortunately, a high number of those
students who end up repeating never graduate
from high school. Our 8th grade program is
designed to solve that problem.
Students will have learning opportunities in
English 8 or English I, Pre-Algebra or Algebra
I, Earth Science, Louisiana History, Physical
Education, Introduction to Speech, and
Instrumental Music. In addition, students will
be placed in a Seminar that is designed to
provide academic assistance and enrichment.
One of the most important components will
be a course specifically devoted to preparation
for high school.
Topics will include time
management, study skills, organization,
leadership skills, interpersonal communication,
course selection, importance of attendance,
campus involvement, community service, and
social and emotional learning.
